Islamabad [Pakistan]March 18 (ANI): The Pakistani government on Friday moved the venue of the Toshakhana case from the Additional Sessions Court to the relatively secure Judiciary Building, the Pakistan-based Dawn newspaper reported.

Earlier, the Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI) informed the Islamabad police of its concerns about the safety of party chairman Imran Khan.

The Islamabad Chief Commissioner’s Office issued a circular announcing G-11’s Judiciary Building No. 1 as the venue for the case brought by the District Election Commissioner against Khan, calling it a “one-off immunity,” Dawn reported.

Earlier, PTI Senator Shibli Faraz met with Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Akbar Nasir Khan and formally requested the transfer of the venue due to security concerns.

In his speech on Thursday, Imran Khan cited security reasons for past court failures, which led to the issuance of his arrest warrant.

In his speech, Khan referred to the 2007 suicide attack on the F-8 courtroom, claiming that his life was seriously threatened.

Police have drawn up a security plan under which they have decided to deploy personnel from the Counter Terrorism Unit, Riot Unit, Border Police and Rangers around the Judiciary building, Dawn reported.

According to a police official, more than 1,000 personnel have been called from other regions to the capital for security missions.

Roads near the judicial building will be closed with barbed wire and barricades, the official said, adding that unauthorized persons will not be allowed into the court hearing venue.

Speaking with Dawn, Senator Shibli Faraz said he made the request to move the site because the party believed the F-8 site could be a “death trap” for Khan.

In addition to this, he said police faced challenges in arranging security at the F-8 Markaz’s courthouse.

Khan, who is due to appear in the Toshakhana case today, was given conservatories in nine cases in the two-man bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) led by Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh. bail.

Bail was granted in five cases in Islamabad and three in Lahore. Khan was released on bail in the Lahore cases filed until March 27, while protective bail was granted until March 24 in the five cases in Islamabad.

In addition, the court also granted bail for Khan in the case at the Sarwar Road Police Station, ARY News reported.

The high court also allowed the police to interrogate Imran Khan. The court closed the petition against the police action after directing PTI to cooperate with the police in the investigation. (Arnie)
