Jones, an 18-year-old Welsh international, started the day at even par as the co-leader after a first-round 72.
Jones shot a +2 handicap with five birdies in the first round and five more after a 33 on the back nine with birdies on the 15th and 16th holes. Jones, who won the Dubai Desert Classic by two points at the Emirates Golf Club earlier this year, plans to settle in Dubai by the end of next month.

The event is a qualifier for the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Men’s Medal of Honor for 2022-23 and is a WAGR event backed by the R&A.
In the network department, Gustav Larsson (Eyers Club) had a 7-under 67 in the second round, and his nine handicaps tied with the first-round leader Damon Mitchell (8, ADGC) 137.
