Thuraya Launches New Tactical Satcom Solution

[ad_1]

Thuraya Telecommunications Company in the UAE has launched a new satellite tactical radio extender solution (T-TAC) at Satellite 2023, designed for the government and enterprise markets.

T-TAC is a Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) communication solution launched in partnership with Cobham Satcom. The system is designed to allow operators on land, sea and air to communicate seamlessly. It features an advanced universal converter unit that enables users to talk via satellite via tactical radio and push-to-talk (PTT) devices.

This makes it easier for personnel to communicate in remote or isolated locations where line-of-sight systems are difficult to use due to distance or obstructions between field teams and their headquarters.

low power consumption

The lightweight solution is built with low-power hardware and is suitable for mobile communication or suspended communication. It securely connects existing tactical VHF/UHF radios with a converter that links to Thuraya’s satellites via a single-hop link for minimal latency, enabling reliable BLOS communications while avoiding the need to build ground infrastructure.

Thuraya CEO Sulaiman Al Ali said: “This is a truly industry-leading tactical radio solution and we look forward to demonstrating its capabilities to visitors at Satellite 2023. The T-TAC is an important part of our portfolio expansion and strengthens our A commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies that meet market needs and solve the unique challenges our customers face.”

T-TAC solves long-standing problems related to PTT communication limitations, enabling secure communication between different ground agencies and their headquarters.

four different packages

The system is available in four different packages: T-TAC ManPack, T-TAC Aeronautical, T-TAC Marine and T-TAC Vehicular, each suitable for different use case scenarios. The product provides interoperable communications between disparate systems, enabling military and emergency operations around the world to work together seamlessly while maintaining any encryption over the radio.

The T-TAC solution will operate on the existing Thuraya satellites (Thuraya-2 and Thuraya-3) as well as the future Thuraya-4. The operating concept of the T-TAC solution is based on elbow capacity rental services with highly flexible technical and commercial options.

T-TAC will be on display at Yahsat Booth #2819 in Hall A for visitors to learn more during Satellite 2023, March 14-16, 2023 in Washington, DC. — trade arab news agency
