Authorities will conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with rules and regulations

Sharjah authorities will crack down on violations starting from the first day of the holy month. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, director-general of the Sharjah Municipality, revealed that the authorities will initially carry out various activities and carry out daily inspections.

Authorities have set up teams to work around the clock during Ramadan. Al Tunaiji said the working hours of its service centers have been fixed so that they can continue to provide services to the public. These services include veterinary clinics, health services and building control services, among others.

The following is a list of areas targeted by the authorities’ activities:

One of the key areas of the crackdown will be food service. Inspections will target food stores, pantries, bakeries, public kitchens, bakeries, candy stores and other food establishments.

A team of 40 inspectors has been set up to carry out these activities and ensure that food is not only safe for consumers but also meets the health standards and conditions approved by the authority.

The council said visits and inspections would be conducted to monitor the general appearance for any disturbances. This includes, but is not limited to, raising your voice, disturbing others, and setting up special Ramadan tents outside your home.

Al Tunaiji added that authorities will publicize the importance of following rules and regulations, such as keeping clean and keeping traffic low.

Contracting firms and engineering consultancy offices will be allowed to work until 12am instead of the normal 10pm.

Al Tunaiji explained that parking fees will be calculated from 8 am to midnight during the holy month. Inspection teams will ensure residents and visitors pay for parking, he said.

Public and residential parks will be open to visitors from 4 p.m. to midnight. Tourists have been urged to abide by guidelines during their stay.

Residents can contact the call center on the number ‘993’, which will record their observations, reports and inquiries. It also immediately forwards each call to the appropriate department for further action. Al Tunaiji urged the public to call the given number in case they find any accident or bad behaviour.
