During Ramadan, trucks and buses transporting workers will have to follow a new operating schedule in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Police announced the time change on Tuesday, saying the heavy vehicles would not be allowed on the roads during the morning and evening peak hours.
Trucks will not be allowed on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain route from 8am to 10am, while buses carrying 50 or more worker passengers will not be allowed on Abu Dhabi roads from 8am to 10am drive.
Trucks are not allowed on roads in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain between 2pm and 4pm.
The decision is part of authorities’ efforts to limit accidents during Ramadan.
The Traffic and Patrol Agency is urging drivers to follow road safety rules and obey restrictions. Roads will be closely monitored and equipped with smart systems to catch violators.
