SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, in collaboration with Miral, designed and built a property on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi that spans five interior floors and measures approximately 183,000 square meters.
“We are very pleased to announce the opening of the highly anticipated SeaWorld Abu Dhabi,” said SeaWorld Chairman Scott Ross. “We are extremely proud and honored to open our first SeaWorld outside of the United States with such dynamic and innovative partners as Miral and the UAE.”
“By utilizing fundamental SeaWorld design principles that put animal welfare and care at the heart of its design, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will redefine the standard of excellence for marine life theme parks around the world,” Ross continued.
Endless Ocean Kingdom will be home to the world’s largest and most expansive multi-species aquarium, which will house more than 68,000 marine animals, including sharks, schools of fish, manta rays and sea turtles.
In total, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will house more than 100,000 marine animals, including 150 species of birds, fish, mammals and reptiles. Animal habitats are designed according to standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Humane Association of the United States.
The park is also home to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Seaworld Research and Rescue Yas Island, the region’s first dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return centre, which opened in February.
