Abu Dhabi’s streets and bridges light up to welcome Ramadan

[ad_1]

Abu Dhabi: The streets of Abu Dhabi are illuminated with 5,147 decorations and lights to celebrate the holy month.

In a statement, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) said the lighting was part of Ramadan celebrations. This year, authorities added festive lighting to streets, public squares and bridges in the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra areas.

In a statement, DMT said it used high-quality electrical connections and lights that were safe in all weather conditions.

“DMT places great emphasis on ensuring the safety of residents and public infrastructure by employing high-quality electrical connections that can withstand all climatic conditions,” it said.

In Abu Dhabi, illuminated areas include the Al Maqta Bridge, Abu Dhabi Corniche and the square in the Al Bateen area. The lights include popular Ramadan motifs such as the crescent moon, traditional lanterns and geometric patterns used in Islamic art.

Authorities also extended Ramadan greetings to residents and urged them to maintain and protect public spaces and infrastructure.

“DMT sends Ramadan greetings to the community while reminding everyone of their social responsibilities [maintain public spaces and facilities] During the holy month,” it said.
