Prince William mocked by Russia over Ukraine war… | World News

[ad_1]

Britain’s Prince William has been mocked by a Russian official after the royal visit to Poland to thank British and Polish troops involved in the Ukraine war. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Prince William’s visit came as the British government defended plans to ship depleted uranium bombs to Ukraine.

“I wonder if William Charles Ovich brought depleted uranium ammunition for his troops,” Maria Zakharova said, according to The Telegraph. The topic of depleted uranium munitions has been at the heart of tensions between Russia and the West over the past week, as the Kremlin accused the United States of using weapons with a “nuclear component”.

Vladimir Putin said earlier that “if this happens, Russia will have to respond accordingly, because the West has collectively started using weapons with a nuclear component.”

“The British Army has been using depleted uranium in its armor-piercing rounds for decades,” a statement from the UK Ministry of Defense confirmed to the BBC.

“Russia knows this but is deliberately trying to spread information. Independent research by scientists from groups such as the Royal Society has assessed that the health and environmental impacts of the use of depleted uranium munitions are likely to be minimal,” it added.

Prince William’s visit to Poland involved a number of activities, including visiting troops and meeting refugees.
