AD Ports Group launches new ro-ro service to Kuwait

AD Ports Group, Abu Dhabi’s leading trade, logistics and industry facilitator, has announced the launch of a new direct roll-on-roll-off (ro-ro) service between Khalifa Port, UAE, and Shuwah Port, Kuwait.

It said the new service aims to improve business connectivity and facilitate trade with Kuwait.

The longstanding bilateral trade relationship between the two GCC countries has seen rapid growth in several key commodity markets in recent years.

During 2022, preliminary figures from the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics show that non-oil trade flows between the two countries are estimated to increase by AED 43.5 billion (US$ 11.8 billion), compared to AED 38.5 billion (US$ 10.4 billion) in 2021. ), recording an increase of 13%.

In addition, the value of non-oil exports to Kuwait increased from AED 12.7 billion to AED 14.2 billion. The value of re-exports to Kuwait increased from AED 20.9 billion to AED 21.9 billion, while imports to the UAE increased from AED 4.9 billion to AED 7.3 billion.

Regarding the launch of the new service, Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, acting CEO of AD Ports Group Maritime Cluster and Safeen Group, said: “As a key facilitator of logistics, industry and trade in the region, we are committed to leveraging its integrated logistics to meet the needs of our customers. capabilities to help them grow their businesses and facilitate their access to target markets through Khalifa Port, the strategic gateway to Abu Dhabi, with competitive rates and shorter lead times.”

Trade between the UAE and countries in the region has recently seen significant growth thanks to a series of comprehensive commercial agreements and strategic partnerships with neighboring countries, including but not limited to those signed by AD Ports Group with Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey, stated Al Shaiba.

He added that the launch of the new shipping service between Khalifa Port and Shuwah Port is part of AD Ports Group’s efforts to enhance trade connectivity and facilitation in the region.trade arab news agency
