UAE: Samsung Group donates AED5 million to ‘1 Billion Meals’ initiative – News

Samsung Group, an integrated energy logistics company headquartered in Dubai, has contributed to the ‘1 Billion Meals Donation’ campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of the UAE AED 5 million was donated to Dubai, in parallel with Ramadan, to launch a sustainable food aid endowment fund.

The campaign aims to provide a food safety net for vulnerable groups and implement sustainable solutions under a comprehensive, targeted plan to fight hunger, limit its impact and support vulnerable groups around the world.

Through this donation, the Samsung Group, together with numerous institutions, businesses and individuals supporting the movement, is helping to achieve its goal of providing food aid to vulnerable groups around the world, especially children, displaced persons, refugees and victims of crises and natural disasters.

Eugene Mayne, CEO of Samsung Group, said: “The UAE has always been at the forefront of humanitarian work, and the UAE’s initiatives this year, represented by the ‘Billion Meals Donation’ campaign, are extraordinary and sustainable. Because it aims to launch a sustainable food aid endowment that will feed hundreds of millions of poor people around the world.

Committed to charity work

“Our contribution to this campaign reflects our commitment to philanthropic work.”

The campaign is part of a portfolio of dozens of humanitarian and philanthropic projects across the globe under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative, in line with the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which include fighting hunger newest member.

The event provides new and sustainable ways for individuals, businesses, business people and influential philanthropists to give and make a difference.

The campaign welcomes donations and donations to the endowment from institutions and individuals through five main channels, including the campaign’s website (www.1billionmeals.ae) and a dedicated call center established via a toll-free number (800 9999).

Donations can also be made by bank transfer to the active bank account via Emirates NBD (AE30 0260 0010 1533 3439 802).

Donating via SMS, donors can choose to donate Dh1 per day with a monthly subscription by sending the word “Meal” to 1020 for du users, or Etisalat at 1110 for e& users.

Those wishing to donate to the campaign through the DubaiNow app can do so by clicking on the ‘Donate’ tab.
