UAE: ‘1 Billion Meals’ drives record AED247m and 13,000 contributors in one week – News

The event received contributions from 13,220 major donors, individuals, businesses, and public and private sector participants

Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the One Billion Meals Donation campaign aims to launch the largest Ramadan sustainable food aid donation fund to date AED 247 million, a week after launch.

The event received contributions from 13,220 major donors, individuals, businesses, and public and private sector participants.

Among them, 13,195 donors donated through smart channels.

The event is a tangible example of the UAE’s long-held values ​​of giving and generosity, and a response from the entire community to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s call to help those in need.

Donate 1 Billion Meals, organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, aims to create sustainable solutions and implement effective programs to fight and eradicate hunger and support vulnerable people around the world.

The Billion Meals Give campaign continues to welcome institutional and individual donations and donations to the Endowment Fund through five main channels, including the campaign website (www.1billionmeals.ae), and a dedicated call center via toll free (800 9999).

Donations can also be made via bank transfer in UAE dirhams to the active bank account of UAE NBD (AE30 0260 0010 1533 3439 802).

Donating via SMS, donors have the option to donate AED 1 per day through a monthly subscription by sending the word ‘Meal’ to 1020 for du users or 1110 for Etisalat for e& users. Those wishing to donate to the campaign through the DubaiNow app can do so by clicking on the ‘Donate’ tab.

The “1 Billion Meals Donation” campaign builds on the success of previous food aid campaigns launched over the past 3 years under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, starting in Ramadan 2020 with the ” 10 Million Meals”, the first and largest event of its kind in solidarity with victims of the Covid-19 pandemic in the UAE. It will be followed in 2021 by the 100 Million Meals campaign, the largest regional food support campaign covering 20 countries in the Arab region, Africa and Asia. Last year’s Billion Meals was the largest event of its kind in the region, serving one billion meals across 50 countries.
