The police said that since the beginning of the school year, some motorists have been observed to violate the regulations.
The Sharjah police warned motorists that overtaking school buses and ignoring the stop signs could lead to serious accidents, leading to casualties. Such violations will result in penalties of Dh1,000 and 10 black dots.
Although there have been no accidents related to such violations in the past two years, the police have launched awareness campaigns among motorists to urge them to abide by the rules.
The event also tried to educate students on the importance of safety measures to help them avoid involvement in such accidents.

The force said that since the beginning of the school year, it has noticed that some motorists have ignored the stop signs for students who got off the bus.
Police said that on two-way roads, when the “stop” sign is lit, drivers must stop at a distance of five meters from the bus. They added that the safety of students requires the participation and cooperation of motorists, bus drivers and parents.
