UAE: Drug addict who stabbed his father 36 times sentenced to death-News

[ad_1]

Allegedly, after the victim refused to give him money to buy drugs, an Emirati drug addict in Al Ain was sentenced to death for killing his father.

The young man stabbed 36 different parts of his father’s body with a blunt tool, resulting in his death. The incident occurred after the Tarawi prayers during Ramadan this year.

After the murderer was convicted of premeditated murder, Al Ain Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced him to death. The victim’s family refused to pardon the murderer in exchange for blood money and insisted on revenge.

Police investigations revealed that the Emirati often asked his father for money. Sometimes his father would agree to this request, sometimes he would refuse because he knew his son would use it to buy psychoactive substances.

Witnesses told the authorities that the defendant used to beat him when his father refused to give him the money needed to buy drugs. This young man was a former criminal in a drug abuse case and was previously placed in a rehabilitation clinic.

On the day of the murder, the Emirati lured his father into the courtyard of the house on the pretext of talking with his father. The prosecutor said: “As soon as the victim approached him, the defendant stabbed him 36 times in different parts of his body with a blunt instrument.”

The defendant’s brother witnessed the incident on the balcony of his room, and he rushed down, put his father in his car, and tried to take him to the hospital. However, the defendant hurriedly blocked his brother’s road with his own car and rammed his brother’s car several times until the car was damaged and could not move.

The second brother outside the house called the police after hearing his father’s screams.

The victim’s brother was also nearby and ran to rescue his brother. He tried to take him to the hospital, but when he was taken to the hospital, the latter had died.

Al Ain’s family prosecutor’s office accused the Emirati of deliberate murder. He was also charged with deliberately damaging his brother’s vehicle to prevent his father from obtaining the emergency medical assistance needed. The man was further charged with taking psychoactive substances (“Pregabalin”).

The prosecutor demanded that the defendant be sentenced to the highest penalty, and the belief that the victim was his father constituted an aggravating circumstance.

The UAE lawyer argued that his client had committed a crime under the influence of drugs and was unaware of his actions. The defendant told the prosecutor that he did not remember any criminal facts.

However, the medical committee that reviewed the defendant refuted his claims and confirmed that the defendant was responsible for his actions and statements at the time of the incident.
