The second Victoria Series will be held at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala from April 16-23.
This edition attracted three new entrants from Rwanda, Tanzania and the UAE. The Emirates will be visiting East Africa for the first time, but will play Uganda and Kenya at least in the 2016 Desert Invitational.
The United Arab Emirates, ranked 15th in the world, will come to Kampala as the highest-ranked team and therefore play with a strong reputation.
With T20I status, the UAE ladies must ensure they do not lose ranking points when they lose to teams below them.
We know our World Cup ranking of 15 is important, but we come to Kampala with the respect we have for every team. We take all competitions very seriously and will make sure we take care of our processes so we can win them. We’ve also brought in some young players and we think it’s a great opportunity for them to grow as well.
Chaya Mughal – UAE female captain
Rwanda are currently participating in the Nigeria Invitational T20 and will enter the tournament as underdogs.
However, the U-19 women’s squad for the World Cup has some exciting young talent, which should make them a formidable team.
The game’s rising stars Gisele Ishimwe and Henriette Ishimwe will be accompanied wisely by Sara Uwera and captain Diane Bimenyimana.
We prepared a lot for the game in Kampala, and the Nigeria Invitational T20 gave us a chance to keep working hard, and when we come to Kampala, we should be a solid side. We have at least experience playing against all our East African neighbours, but this will be our first against the UAE. We’ve seen some videos of them playing on YouTube and we’ve done our homework. We’re coming to Nigeria with the same 14 players, so there won’t be any changes in our squad.
Diane Bimenyimana – Captain of Rwanda
The women’s game will feature East African sides Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and visitors the United Arab Emirates. All competitions will be held at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
