Pakistan, UAE agree to strengthen cooperation in various fields

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between the UAE delegation and Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif in Islamabad. The delegation was led by Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook al Maktoum, Chairman of Hayat Bio-Tech and member of the UAE ruling family.

Welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister said the fraternal relationship between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates has deep historical roots. He stressed that Pakistan attaches great importance to further expanding its fraternal relationship with the UAE in various fields including trade and investment.

The Prime Minister welcomed Hayat Bio-Tech’s strong interest in investing in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry, especially in vaccine manufacturing.

He also invited the visiting delegation to invest in the field of renewable energy and promised to provide all possible convenience to foreign investors.

On the occasion, Sheikh Ahmed Dharmouk Al Maktoum said they are aware of Pakistan’s huge investment potential and the UAE looks forward to further expanding its footprint in the energy and health sectors. He expressed his keenness to further expand the UAE’s investment portfolio in Pakistan. The dignitary also briefed the prime minister on their ongoing 1,200 MW power plant project in partnership with the Sindh provincial government, which will be a hybrid solar and wind power plant.
