April 3 (United Press International) — Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi He was released on bail on Monday and he will appeal against the two-year sentence.

A court in Surat, Gujarat released on bailscheduled a hearing on April 13 for Gandhi to defend him.

Gandhi, who appeared in the Surat session court along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and a group of Congress leaders, will not be required to attend his next hearing.

BJP members said Gandhi’s decision to appear was an attempt to put pressure on the court.
