The “1 Billion Meals Donation” campaign raised AED404 million in donations in its first 10 days.
Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event coincides with Ramadan.
The campaign received contributions from more than 70,000 donors, including individuals, institutions and businesses from the public and private sectors, further evidence of the campaign’s growing momentum.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Secretary-General, His Excellency Mohammed Al Gejawi said: “The remarkable response to the ‘1 Billion Meals Donation’ campaign is a true reflection of the generosity and willingness of the UAE community The campaign raised AED404 million in just 10 days, with more than 700,000 donors supporting the goals of the Food Aid Endowment Fund.
“Every year, the UAE demonstrates its commitment to its humanitarian role, supporting vulnerable groups around the world, and global efforts to fight and eradicate hunger. To this end, the ‘1 Billion Meals Donation’ campaign is part of the success of UAE philanthropy over the past few years extension,” he added.

The community response to the ‘1 Billion Meals Donation’ campaign reflects the UAE’s established role in sustainable humanitarian and charitable work, as the The achievements of food aid activities in Maktoum over the past 3 years. ’10 Million Meals’ for Ramadan 2020 is the first and largest event of its kind to support victims of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UAE. This was followed by the 100 Million Meals campaign in Ramadan 2021, the largest regional food support campaign covering 20 countries in the Arab region, Africa and Asia. Last year’s Billion Meals was the largest event of its kind in the region, serving 1 billion meals across 50 countries, furthering the UAE’s contribution to global efforts to end hunger.
Five Main Giving Channels
Amid this growing response, the 1 Billion Meals Campaign continues to welcome institutional and individual donations and donations to the Endowment Fund through five main channels, including the campaign website (www.1billionmeals.ae) as well as a dedicated call center via a free Phone (800 9999). Donations can also be made via UAE dirham bank transfer to the active bank account of UAE NBD (AE30 0260 0010 1533 3439 802). Donating via SMS, donors have the option to donate Dh1 per day with a monthly subscription by texting the word ‘Meal’ to 1020 for du users, or 1110 for Etisalat for e& users. Those wishing to donate to the campaign through the DubaiNow app can do so by clicking on the ‘Donate’ tab.
Reviving the Giving Culture
The 1 Billion Meals Donation campaign aims to reinvigorate the culture of giving as a tool for community development as it expands the reach of philanthropic and humanitarian work to reach more disadvantaged people based on a sustainable framework group. It reinforces the value of solidarity in a wider sense by engaging all members of the community in giving to charity, thus providing a sustainable giving model and a practical example of social solidarity.
