music: hospital concert
a member of Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Performing Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 pm in the lobby gallery at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Hospital, 4301 West Markham Street, Little Rock. The annual concert is part of the Dr. Ruth Marie Allen Concert Series, part of a gift to UAMS students, faculty and staff on behalf of Allen, a former medical school professor. Admission is free and open to the public.

Williamson, MacDuff and Wunsch will perform the first and second movements “Allegro” and “Quasi-Allegro” from String Trio No. 2, op. cit. 9 No. 2, composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Renfro, Williamson, MacDuff and Wunsch will perform Benjamin Britten’s “Fantasy Quartet.” Violinist Meredith Maddox and cellist Chava Appiah will perform Corrado Maria Saglietti’s “Notte Serena” with Renfro, Wheeler, Williamson, MacDuff and Wunsch.
Art: “Parisian” Evening
The Fort Smith Regional Art Museum will spend “Paris by Night” 75th Anniversary Celebration April 29th, 6-11pm at ACHE Research Institute Health & Wellness Center, 1000 Fianna Way, Fort Smith.
After canceling its annual fundraiser since 2019, the museum is planning a party “to toast the nonprofit’s past and future and engage new fans with respect to its legacy in the community,” according to a press release. Excited about the effect.” It will include French appetizers, dinner, dessert and wine.
“Jazz de la Rue” will have Parisian street musicians walking up and down a “boulevard” that also showcases the life histories of Belle Époque (1871-1914) artists, including Henri De Toulouse Lautrec, Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt and Pierre Auguste Renoir. Dancers from the West Arkansas Ballet will perform the Cancan, adding a “Moulin Rouge” touch to the gala.

Argenta Community Theater, 405 Main St., North Little Rock, will hold auditions by appointment, “Bring It On: The Musical” (Music by Tom Kitt and Lin-Manuel Miranda, lyrics by Miranda and Amanda Green, book by Jeff Whitty, based on the film), May 6, 10am-3pm. Parts available for all performers ages 13-22 gender, race and ethnicity. Prepares 32 bars of a song in the style of performance (musical, pop, rock) and produces scores for accompanists.
