The UAE Falconry Federation announced today that it has officially joined the UAE National Olympic Committee.
Members support the Federation’s goals of promoting falconry and growing the traditional sport. It also strengthens the UAE Falconry Federation’s position as one of the leading federations in the UAE’s sporting sector.
Membership was unanimously approved during a virtual meeting of the UAE National Olympic Committee Board of Directors chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE National Olympic Committee. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, First Vice-President and Chairman of the Executive Office of the UAE National Olympic Committee; His Excellency Mohamed Mahmoud, Second Vice-President of the UAE National Olympic Committee; and His Excellency Eng. In addition to the board members, Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the UAE National Olympic Committee, was also present.
The Board of Directors of the UAE Falconry Federation welcomed the decision of the UAE National Olympic Committee to grant membership to the federation. The decision is a result of the federation’s efforts to grow the sport of falconry and promote its practice within the community by launching a series of initiatives and activities consistent with its goals and strategic plan.
His Excellency Rashid bin Markhan, Secretary General of the UAE Falconry Federation, emphasized the importance of membership, which will further support the Federation’s mission to ensure the continued growth of the traditional sport and its sustainability.
Bin Markhan noted that the UAE Falconry Federation and the UAE National Olympic Committee will hold a series of joint meetings in the next phase to present the federation’s upcoming championships and championships, which have become prominent events in the UAE’s sports agenda. The conference will also showcase key initiatives launched by the Federation as part of its strategy to strengthen the practice of the sport, which forms an integral part of the UAE’s rich heritage and cultural identity.
