UAE Food Bank distributes over 1.5 million meals in first 10 days of Ramadan

The World Bank aims to raise awareness of the importance of reducing food waste and optimizing distribution to fight global hunger.

The UAE Food Bank, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative, has announced that it has distributed more than 1.5 million meals to vulnerable groups during the first 10 days of Ramadan.

The meals are part of the Bank’s latest campaign to deliver 3 million meals and food parcels to vulnerable individuals and families in the UAE and around the world during the holy month.

The event is in line with the UAE Food Bank’s vision and mission to manage food surplus, reduce waste and deliver food to beneficiaries locally and globally.

The UAE Food Bank works with food companies, kitchens, restaurants and hotels to distribute meals daily through Iftar tents. Additionally, the Bank aims to raise awareness of the importance of reducing food waste and optimizing distribution to fight global hunger. It seeks to achieve this by providing quality food while integrating surplus food management at all stages of collection and distribution.

The bank has also launched the “Your Harees On Us” initiative, which encourages restaurants to keep at least one serving of harees, a traditional Emirati dish, and distribute them to iftar tents. The initiative seeks to foster the values ​​of giving and generosity.

Separately, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a donation of 500 million to the “1 Billion Meals Donation” campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Wan dirham.
