BELGRADE, 5th April, 2023 (WAM) — Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia, has received a message from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries. written information.

President Vučić also sent a message to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed when he met His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Belgrade today. With a similar message, Sheikh Abdullah handed him a letter from the President of the UAE during the meeting.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the President of Serbia and his wishes for further progress and prosperity for Serbia and its people.

In turn, President Vucic conveyed his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and wished the UAE continued prosperity.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the outcomes of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s working visit to Serbia last October and its positive impact in creating opportunities to expand the UAE-Serbia strategic partnership to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

They also reviewed the cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of establishing a strategic partnership to further strengthen cooperation.

Sheikh Abdullah and President Vucic affirmed the deep friendship between the two countries, which has grown with the support of the two leaders.

In addition, the two sides also exchanged views on some issues of common concern to the two countries, as well as regional and global developments such as the situation in the Middle East and the Balkans.

In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the recent agreement between Serbia and Kosovo to implement the EU-sponsored normalization plan for relations, and reiterated the UAE’s support for all efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

After the talks, President Vucic and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah held a joint press conference, introducing Sheikh Abdullah’s working visit to Serbia, the strategic partnership between the two countries, and documents of mutual interest.

Speaking at a press conference, Sheikh Abdullah said that today our two countries enjoy an excellent strategic partnership in various areas of mutual interest, especially in economics and trade, highlighting the non-oil bilateral trade between the UAE and Serbia from around $13 million to around $127 million between 2012 and 2022.

The UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed that the relationship between the UAE and Serbia is not limited to the political and economic spheres, but also extends to the people of the UAE and Serbia, the UAE has more than 5,000 Serbian residents working in various sectors, in 2022 alone alone received more than 39,000 Serbian tourists.

He also pointed to the recent visit of His Highness President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to Serbia as evidence of the UAE’s desire to strengthen relations with Serbia and promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

President Vucic welcomed Sheikh Abdullah and his delegation, and expressed his appreciation for His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s recent visit to Serbia. He affirmed that his country looked forward to strengthening its strategic partnership with the UAE in various fields.

The meeting was attended by Omar Saif Al Ghobash, Assistant Minister for Culture and Public Affairs; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; and Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Serbia.
