The Annual Investment Meeting (AIM), the Middle East’s most respected investment platform, has partnered with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to strengthen collaboration around mutual interests in tourism-related investments.
Both parties will work together to harness the power of tourism to drive global development and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS), especially as economies begin to recover from the pandemic.
Through this new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), UNWTO and AIM formally commit to jointly support the goals of effectively implementing the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and promoting innovation and technology through investment in tourism.
The collaborative work of UNWTO and AIM on investment facilitation and promotion will allow them to share and disseminate knowledge on investment policies among stakeholders and networks, and maximize the positive economic impact of FDI on the sector.
Under the commitment of the two organizations to cooperate in the implementation of projects set out in the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations, the World Tourism Organization will take the lead in organizing the “Tourism Investment Forum” within the framework of the upcoming AIM Global 2023 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 8 to 10 May.
UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili commented: “The UNWTO has recognized that investment is the main priority of our tourism industry now and in the future. Investment is essential for the development of the tourism industry. In turn, a thriving tourism industry can also attract investors. UNWTO is proud to partner with AIM, collaborating around our shared goal of promoting investment in tourism and projects that bring greater sustainability and resilience to the sector.”
Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of AIM, said: “AIM’s mission is to provide an interactive platform where investment opportunities can be shaped, thereby not only strengthening economic relations between countries, but also addressing issues with far-reaching global implications.
“AIM prides itself on its belief that it is vital to stay abreast of the latest changes and issues, while at the same time providing the best venue where the brightest minds from all fields can come together to find solutions and expand ideas. We We welcome this excellent opportunity to work with UNWTO, which we are confident will be fruitful.”

It promotes tourism as a driving force for economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability, and aims to promote the digitalization of tourism and create an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship.
