This is one of two Covid-positive bodies inspected by Dubai police.
The forensic doctors of the Dubai Police recently examined two deaths and found that the Covid-19 virus remained active in the dead bodies for up to a month.
In two cases, someone drowned and the body was found floating in the sea for more than 30 days. In another case, the body had been in the morgue for 17 days before taking the necessary measures. A police officer in Dubai revealed that both bodies tested positive for Covid-19.
Major Ahmed Hashmi, Director of the Department of Forensic Medicine of the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence and Criminology of Dubai Police, told the Arab Daily Bayan They have documented these inspections and look forward to publishing their findings in professional journals.
To quote Maj Al Hashemi, according to existing research, most viruses die as humans die, so this discovery provides a different perspective.
During the pandemic, the Dubai Police’s forensic procedures required the team to test the body for coronavirus in addition to other inspections. All preventive measures are for the safety of the team.
Maj Al Hashemi has stated that all of their forensic procedures are properly documented and the results are recorded as part of the department’s efforts to help the global community. The team uses every opportunity to share their findings and best practices through international conferences and other platforms.
