Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, is calling on leaders in the healthcare industry to urgently address the global climate crisis by doubling down on carbon emissions.
Buildings in the healthcare sector account for 5% of global CO2 emissions. Reducing the healthcare sector’s carbon footprint is critical to stemming the impact of climate change on increased air pollution that can lead to heart disease and lung cancer risks.
three-step method
On the occasion of World Health Day 2023 on April 7, Schneider Electric has outlined a comprehensive three-step approach that will enable healthcare leaders to formulate, deploy and sustain their sustainability journey.
It starts with the first step: developing a strategy. Organizations need a sustainability strategy that details program goals, develops a clear roadmap, funds initiatives and communicates commitment. Doing so will serve as a blueprint for mobilizing the next steps.
Step Two: Digitization. Healthcare facilities need to leverage digital building technologies to drive dramatic improvements in service availability, resource efficiency, CO2 emissions and patient experience. The data generated by these systems must be de-siled and connected to IoT-enabled platforms.
The third step: decarbonization. Healthcare leaders should focus on deploying solutions. This may include electrifying operations by replacing fossil fuel-based loads with electric alternatives, reducing energy use by implementing IoT-enabled solutions, using technologies powered by renewable energy or working more closely with partners and suppliers to decarbonize the value chain.
As healthcare organizations accelerate climate action plans, Schneider Electric’s three-stage decarbonization roadmap aims to enable leaders in the UAE to do the same.
emergency steps
Ahmed Khashan, President Gulf Countries, Schneider Electric, said: “We need to act now to ensure the healthcare industry is sustainable and resilient to the impacts of climate change. investment. Our three-stage decarbonization roadmap simplifies the journey to resilient, energy efficient and sustainable healthcare operations. “
Healthcare innovation will be one of many focus areas at Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit in Saudi Arabia, which will be held for the first time in Riyadh on June 13-14. The event will bring together global leaders and innovators to discuss the latest trends and solutions in energy management and automation. It will also demonstrate Schneider Electric’s commitment to supporting the healthcare industry’s transition to a more sustainable future. — trade arab news agency
