Abu Dhabi: An Indian national poisoned his wife and strangled his two children before jumping to his death from the 11th floor of his Al Buhairah apartment, Sharjah police said, releasing a preliminary autopsy report.
Forensic investigations revealed that the 35-year-old man poisoned his wife and strangle marks were also found on the necks of his two daughters, aged 3 to 7, according to the Khalij Times.
There were no signs of violence or resistance on the bodies of the wives and children.
Sharjah police chief Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi confirmed the man was a resident of Sharjah but worked in the neighboring emirate. He added that the man had no motive or that the economic crisis forced him to take extreme measures, the Khaleej Times reported.
Police said further investigations were underway to find out the motive behind the suicide-murder, and they were questioning a friend of the wife.
Sharjah Police dispatched paramedics to the scene immediately after receiving the report at 5:45 pm (local time) on March 28.
Investigators recovered a note from the man’s body saying he had killed his wife and two children and asking them to move the body from upstairs.
After admission, the body was taken to a forensic laboratory for an autopsy where the man succumbed to his injuries.
The remains of the woman and her daughter will be repatriated once the investigation report is handed over to the public prosecution.
The family has lived in the building for the past six months.
