Earlier this week, the Abu Dhabi team confirmed rider Thani Al Qemzi will not be able to compete in this month’s FIM F1H2O World Championship Racing in China for personal reasons, his place in the team alongside three-time F1 world champion and Florida native Shaun Torrente will be filled by his cousin and three-time UIM F2 world champion Rashed Al Qemzi.

The Zhengzhou Grand Prix in China, scheduled for April 28-30, is the second round of the F1H2O World Championship. In late February, Poland’s Strømøy Racing’s Bartek Marszalek won the weather-affected Kopiko Grand Prix in Indonesia, taking an early lead in the drivers’ championship.
Together with Torrente and honored UAE F2 driver, Abu Dhabi team becomes Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, like its chances in China. The team’s substitute driver has participated in F1 races, and he is very much looking forward to the upcoming challenge. The 2017, 2019 and 2021 F2 World Champion also claimed the F4-S World Championship title in 2016, the same year he finished second in the F2 Championship.
Additionally, Al Qemzi won the UIM Endurance Championship in 2019 and 2021, and finished third in 2016. He has also won the UIM H2O Nations Cup three times. His team won the world title in 2013 and finished sixth in 2015 and third in 2016.
Rashed Al Qemzi is eager to help Team Abu Dhabi claim another F1H2O Team World Championship title.
