Emirates airline starts accepting Russian credit cards again

[ad_1]

Visa and Mastercard pulled out of Russia nearly a year ago when it launched a brutal war of unprovoked aggression against Ukraine

The airlines of the United Arab Emirates – Emirates, Air Arabia and flydubai – have now resumed accepting payments from customers with Mastercard and Visa cards issued by Russian banks, according to the latest reports.

Russian customers can now use Russia’s fast payment system (SBP) when booking Emirates airline flights, Russian sources said.

Air Arabia tickets can now be paid for through the SBP system with a commission of 6% on the total value of each ticket. A flight reservation is made on the carrier’s website, and after a support call, the customer receives a link to complete the action.

Flydubai reportedly conducts transactions through authorized agents for an additional fee of 2,000 rubles ($24.50), while Emirates offers the opportunity to pay for tickets using a QR code system, but this can only be done if the ticket is purchased at least ten days in advance of departure .

Russia’s domestic Faster Payment System (FPS) was launched by the country’s central bank in 2019. It allows customers to transfer money between banks using the phone number tied to the account. Card-to-card transfers are also available for transactions within credit institutions.

After Visa and MasterCard withdrew from Russia almost a year ago when Russia launched a brutal and unprovoked war of aggression against neighboring Ukraine, these domestically issued cards of international payment systems are no longer listed outside the Russian Federation and on foreign websites. accept.

Turkish Airlines, Turkey’s national carrier, is also reportedly planning to resume accepting Russian-issued credit cards for its customers.
