Bilateral relations between the two countries have grown stronger over the years, with the UAE becoming one of India’s most important strategic partners in West Asia.
Both countries have made considerable diplomatic efforts to strengthen bilateral relations through high-level official visits. Friendly relations continue to be maintained between the leaders of the two countries.
The recent I2U2 summit involving a partnership between India, Israel, the UAE and the US only underscored the strategic alliance between the two countries.
The summit’s vision statement highlighted the UAE’s green investment in India with technical support from Israel and the US, which is a win-win situation for all. It will involve investments in the renewable energy sector as well as investments in land and water conservation.
On the economic front, India and the UAE signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which will strengthen economic ties between the two emerging economic powerhouses. The vision is to increase bilateral trade between the two countries from the current US$60 billion to US$100 billion.
India and the UAE have expressed their mutual desire to cooperate in different areas such as food security, health, skills development, education, defence, and space.
