Fifteen days after its launch, the “One Billion Meals Donation” campaign has raised AED 514 million.

Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the campaign aims to establish the largest endowment fund for sustainable food aid during Ramadan.

This generous sum was donated in a community-wide response by 87,000 major donors, individuals, businesses and public and private sector institutions, a testament to the UAE’s deeply rooted culture of giving and generosity.

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gejawi, Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative, noted that the “billion meal donation” aimed at providing a food safety net for the poor around the world “The movement is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision to alleviate the suffering of fellow human beings, build the concept of sustainable generosity, and expand the reach of charitable and humanitarian work.

“The widespread response to the ‘1 Billion Meal Donation’ campaign, which garnered AED514 million from 87,000 donors in 15 days, is a testament to the UAE community’s commitment to the values ​​of giving and solidarity, which are integral to our culture Part of it,” he added.

The “1 Billion Meal Donation” campaign builds on the achievements of previous food aid campaigns launched over the past 3 years under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. ’10 Million Meals’ for Ramadan 2020 is the first and largest event of its kind to support victims of the Covid-19 pandemic in the UAE. This was followed by the 100 Million Meals campaign in Ramadan 2021, the largest regional food support campaign covering 20 countries in the Arab region, Africa and Asia. Last year’s ‘1 Billion Meals’ was the largest event of its kind in the region, serving 1 billion meals across 50 countries, furthering the UAE’s contribution to global efforts to end hunger.
