Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have come under fire for their latest actions ahead of King Charles III’s coronation.
A royal expert accused the couple of behaving like characters from a soap opera, adding that the couple – who were invited to the coronation in May – kept Buckingham Palace in the dark about their intentions.
Heydel-Mankoo was asked in an interview with GB News if he thought the couple had been rude by not making it clear whether they were present.
The expert responded: “It’s absolutely disrespectful. The whole drama of whether they will or won’t be very tedious now. That’s exactly what the king and the royal family don’t need. Harry and Meghan seem to be comparing the coronation to Coronation Street, I think. Confusing it because it’s not a soap opera.
“This is a very important constitutional and ceremonial event, not just for the United Kingdom or the British people, but for all Commonwealth countries including Australia,” the expert said.
“Harry and Meghan, I think, through all of this, they’re just showing the world how childish and self-centered and self-obsessed they are.”
He continued: “I think it’s actually a disgraceful publicity ploy where they’re milking the value out of it all. They know that, by their very nature, as they distance themselves from the royal family, they’re a disgrace to the public. It’s becoming less and less fun to say. Big, less and less relevant. It’s a way of making them headlines and front pages.”
He slammed the couple: “It actually makes them look powerful, and the royal family seems to be trying to lure them across the pond. But, it’s really narcissistic because at the end of the day, it’s about celebrating the king. All the attention has to be Put it on the monarchy and the king.”
