Investor Agility said the long-awaited Reem Mall in Abu Dhabi will fully open this quarter or next.
The mall had a soft opening in February with some stores open. Chief Financial Officer Ehab Aziz was quoted in the minutes of Agility’s earnings call released to the Dubai Financial Market as saying he expected a full opening “this quarter or next quarter”.
Construction of the mall was first reported in 2017.
Aziz said: “Despite the challenges faced by the industry, this will be a successful investment. It may not be our best investment, but it will definitely be a successful investment.
“We can now see many investors coming to the UAE. The UAE economy is doing very well and we are very optimistic.”
The mall will reportedly be home to Snow Abu Dhabi, a snow park run by Majid Al Futtaim, as well as 450 stores and 85 restaurants across 2 million square feet. of retail space.
The mall was originally scheduled to open last year, according to Agility’s earnings call, previously reported by Zawya. The company also previously said pre-opening leasing plans had been put on hold due to the pandemic.
