Inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame April 3, 2021 Paul Pierce Live on Instagram. Now, just two years later, he’s still baffled by the ramifications of the livestream.
It was a perfectly normal Friday night, and all of a sudden, Pierce’s Instagram icon showed him turning on the camera. This is no longer a normal Friday night!
Pierce’s video shows the then 43-year-old playing poker — with about $10,000 in chips — in a dimly lit room. Not long after, the barber came in to help him cut his hair, and he sat at the gambling table and roasted his bones.
Then it’s time for the finale. A group of scantily clad women enters the room and drinks with Pierce. Then, they start twerking all night long.
It was a Friday night, and Pierce was off work. When he rests at night, he is free to do whatever he wants.
This is America after all!
Poker games, OG Kush, shooting and strippers are not a problem. If they are, the old adage goes like this: “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
The problem for Pierce was that everyone heard the tree fall. His pranks were broadcast by him for the world to see online.
Pierce is fired Thanks to his Instagram Live, ESPN (on his day off).
The decision to let him go made sense to most, but not to Pierce. He’s still reeling from the decision and recently spoke about the confusion on the “I’m The Athletic” podcast.
His spin zone on what’s going on is really impressive and leaves the rest of the room in a mess. Pierce was just “having some fun” and that’s it!
He also broke up a call with ESPN that eventually led to his firing on Disney’s ethics clause. fair enough.
Pierce apparently chose to appear calm on the podcast and understand why he was fired. That being said, his confusion is fair – if he wasn’t live on Instagram…but… he was on Instagram Live.
