DUBAI: Adrian Larsson (Eyers Club) shot a first-round 71-under par to lead the 2023 Robert Locke Abu Dhabi Golf Championship at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The 54-hole event is associated with the Robert Rock Junior Golf Tour and is a qualifying event for the R&A-backed World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
The 15-year-old Adrian shot a +1 handicap with a birdie on the first hole and a bogey-five on the third hole for seven pars in the par 36.

A bogey on No. 14 was answered with a strong birdie-par-par-birdie performance on Nos. 15 and 18 to finish the back nine at 35 and under par overall 71 for a one-shot lead.
A highlight of Adrian’s season so far has been his runner-up finish in January at the Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates Golf Club, which includes the Faldo and Parliament courses.

The 54-hole tournament is divided into three categories: Boys 21 and Under, Boys 14 and Under and Girls 21 and Under, with the top two in each category receiving overall prize money.
The draw for the second round will see the leaders finish last in the overall standings.
