Family Fun Comes to Fort Scott – Fort Scott Biz

[ad_1]

Patrick MacDonald, also known as PatMac, purchased the building at 16 Scott Avenue and has been working on turning it into a family entertainment venue, naming it Gamerz Lodge.

“The community needed a family entertainment space, and that’s what I did here,” he said. “Approximately 10,000 square feet of fun!”

Patrick moved here last year from Kansas City to invest in Pizza Republic after owning several pizzerias for the past 30 years. “I love this community,” he said. “I see it as a way to give back to the community and invest in Fort Scott. Here, I can make a difference.”

The ground floor will be the first focus of his presentation of the Gamerz Lodge.

“We’ll have a couple of TVs, arcade games, air hockey, shuffleboard and pool tables,” MacDonald said. “We’re also launching an ‘updated’ kiosk. Some of your favorite tunes in the style of ‘PatMac’. There’ll be ice cream too!”

It will be an event center for small concerts and a venue for birthday parties.

“People can really use this space for creative classes, meetings, comedy shows and parties,” he said. “It has a lot of potential.”

The renovation of the building, which recently housed Darlene’s collection, was a huge undertaking. “It’s a lot to take on for one person, but I’m definitely up for the challenge,” he said. “If there are investors out there, please let me know!” he said.

MacDonald’s email address is patmacspizza@gmail.com.

The tentative opening date is June 1.

The second floor has a grand ballroom and two 30ft x 30ft rooms. The ballroom held meetings and dances from the era of the Brotherhood of Eagles, whose crest is located on the outside of the 1924 building. Some memorabilia still line the walls.

“The second floor will grow as the business grows,” he said. “I see cornhole tournaments, virtual reality spaces, and possibly putt golf.”

MacDonald also saw an opportunity to create a wedding venue or Airbnb at this level.

“I think the entire baseball team at La Roche Stadium could stay here,” he said. “Games, food and family. What else do you need?”

The exterior of the building purchased by Patrick MacDonald bears the Fraternal Order of Eagles logo and the building’s construction date, 1924.
