DUBLIN, April 12, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — “2022 Research Report on Telematics System and Entertainment Ecosystem of Chinese Joint Venture OEMs” report added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s supply.
Research on Internet of Vehicles System II: Baidu Family Barrel, Huawei, and Tencent Become Mainstream Ecosystems
The publisher released the “Research Report on the Internet of Vehicles and Entertainment Ecosystem of Chinese Joint Venture OEMs, 2022” (hereinafter referred to as the “report”), which sorted out the Internet of Vehicles systems of Chinese joint venture brands.
From January to December 2022, the cumulative sales of passenger vehicles of joint venture brands in China was 10.74 million, a year-on-year decrease of 8.6%, of which 6.59 million were equipped with the Internet of Vehicles system, and the installation rate reached 61.3%, an increase of 5 percentage points from the previous year.
In terms of brand and telematics system installations in 2022, Volkswagen will rise to No. 1, with a market share up by 5.2 percentage points year-on-year (Volkswagen will sell 2.193 million new cars in 2022, down 8.1% year-on-year); Nissan will fall to No. 3, with a decline in market share 3 percentage points (Nissan’s new car sales in 2022 will be 802,000, a year-on-year decrease of 23%).
In 2022, the development highlights of joint venture brands in the field of Internet of Vehicles are as follows:
1. The cockpit hardware has been greatly improved, and high-resolution integrated displays and rear entertainment screens have become the norm
In 2022, the new models of the joint venture brand will have a greater improvement in the cockpit display. Take GM and BMW as examples:
GM’s Buick and Cadillac are both equipped with the virtual cockpit system (VCS). The front row of Buick Century is equipped with 30-inch 6K curved screen, the rear row is equipped with 32-inch entertainment screen and two 8-inch armrest control screens (both front and rear rows are equipped with Qualcomm 8155 chips) ); Cadillac LYRIQ is equipped with 33-inch 9K curved screen, with a PPI of up to 271
The front row of the BMW i7 uses a curved display, which integrates a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 14.9-inch central control screen with a resolution of 2880*1080 and a PPI of 201. It is the first 31-inch 8K entertainment screen. The rear row can be controlled through two 5.5-inch rear door screens on the left and right
2. In terms of cockpit interaction, voice interaction has become standard, but the vehicle has fewer advanced functions
In 2022, typical models of joint venture brands will have voice interaction functions, but few models will have advanced voice functions, such as “see-to-talk”, four-zone voice recognition, voice reproduction, etc.Among the 12 models in this report, only Buick Century is equipped with “see and talk” and voice reproduction functions, and Nissan ARIYA supports four-zone voice recognition
The Toyota bZ3, which will be launched in March 2023, is planned to be equipped with voice interaction functions ranging from dual-zone voice recognition, wake-up free, voice reproduction, scene DIY to 20/30/60/120 seconds continuous dialogue, semantic interruption, etc., which will be gradually upgraded and opened later
Compared with self-owned brands that have developed functions such as user-defined voice commands, voice-activated ADAS, and external voice interaction, joint venture brands still have a long way to go in terms of interaction methods. (For details, please refer to the 2022 Research Report on the Telematics System and Entertainment Ecosystem of China’s Independent OEMs)
3. In terms of ecology, Baidu Family Bucket (Baidu’s application) has been widely used in cars, and Huawei and Tencent have cooperated with more brands
Among the 13 joint venture brands investigated in this report, 8 brands cooperate with Baidu. Among them, GM’s Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet, Toyota and Hyundai chose to install Baidu Family Bucket. In addition, Tencent iFun, Tencent MINI scenes, Huawei App Store, etc. have also been opened to vehicles. For example, the BMW i7’s front-row central control panel integrates Tencent iFun and Tencent MINI scene applications, and the rear entertainment screen integrates Huawei’s APP Store
In contrast, the cooperation between Ali Ecology and joint venture brands is shrinking. Except for Gaode Map, Tmall Genie fell short of expectations and lost its partner BMW in 2022 (in October 2022, BMW announced that it would gradually phase out Tmall Genie and its IVI system and My BMW APP from November 14, 2022. related functions).
