The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) has released its long-awaited list of the top private schools in the emirate. Eleven private educational institutions were rated as “excellent” following the Irtiqaa annual inspection.
In addition, 37 schools were rated as “very good”, 85 as “good”, 63 as “acceptable” and 1 as “poor”. Depending on the rating, schools may choose to increase tuition.
The 11 outstanding schools, in alphabetical order, are:
1. Al Muna Primary School, Aldar Academies
The school follows the British curriculum and is located on Zayed First Street in the city centre.
“Education is one of the most valuable things we can have. Al Muna Academy is a vibrant, busy school where children are highly valued, well looked after and encouraged to reach their potential ,” said Principal Sarah Griffiths.
2. Al Yasmina School, Aldar Academies
The British Curriculum school is located in Khalifa City A.
“We are one of the few schools in the UAE to be recognized as outstanding, with our pupils achieving and progressing significantly above the UK, UAE and global averages across all grade levels,” said Headteacher Keith Miller.
3. Brighton College, Iron
The British Curriculum School is located in the Zaker area of the “Garden City”.
“Our school is a leading school in the Middle East, combining outstanding academic excellence with the highest level of pastoral care,” said Principal Scott Carnochan.
4. Brighton Academy Abu Dhabi
British Curriculum School for students from Kindergarten to Year 13, located in Bloom Gardens.
“We know our students and value their efforts, talents and achievements. We all celebrate their accomplishments in a community where students support each other to reach their full potential,” Headmistress Helen Way Wilkinson said.
5. Cranley School, Abu Dhabi
This is another British school. It is located on the beautiful Saadiyat Island and is open to children from 3 to 18 years old.
“The blend of tradition and innovation ensures that Cranley maintains a happy and relaxed atmosphere where children can enjoy their education and achieve their goals,” said Principal Tim McConnell-Wood.
6. Lemandi International School
Founded by Dr. Susheela George in April 1978, the school is accredited by Cambridge University and offers Cambridge Primary School, Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS and A Level courses. Merryland International School is located in Mohamed bin Zayed City, Mussafah.
7. Pearl Primary School, Aldar Academies
The British primary school is located in the Al Danah area of the city.
“Our curriculum and extensive co-curricular activities are firmly rooted in our school values of empathy, agility and hard work,” said Principal Barbara Heaton.
8. Raha International School
Raha International School is an International Baccalaureate World School for all grades from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school is located in Khalifa City.
“Our school community is made up of more than 3,200 students from more than 80 countries who share 45 native languages. We pride ourselves on being one big school but one small family,” says the school website.
9. Repton Foundation School
British Curriculum school on the Isle of Reme for students from Kindergarten to Year 13.
“Repton Abu Dhabi delivers the rigor of the British National Curriculum with the vibrancy of the UAE, delivered in our world-class facilities,” said Principal Steve Lupton.
10. British International School Abu Dhabi
The school follows the British Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). It is located in Zayed City.
“Our students thrive in an environment that encourages curiosity, fosters personal growth and celebrates academic achievement,” said Principal Liam Cullinan.
11. British School Al Khubairat
Established in 1968, British School Al Khubairat (BSAK) is one of the oldest educational institutions in the emirate. It was built on land donated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE.
“Educating children is an absolute privilege, but also a huge responsibility, which British School Al Khubairat and its staff take very seriously,” Principal Mark Leppard MBE said of the school in the Al Mushrif area of Abu Dhabi.
