His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, made the remarks in a video released on Wednesday to mark his 17 years as the cabinet and head of the federal government . 2006.

The video showcases a sign commemorating the feat with a quote from Sheikh Mohammed: “We do what we say and do what we say.”

The video begins with his oath of service to the UAE: “I swear allegiance to the United Arab Emirates by Allah Almighty, to respect the constitution and laws of the Union, to perform our duties honestly, and to safeguard the interests of the people of the United Arab Emirates. “17 years has passed fast and beautifully, full of work and achievements,” said Sheikh Mohamed, noting that “we have made fundamental changes to the performance and development services of the UAE government”.

“We have transformed from a traditional government to one that provides more than 1,500 smart services. In less than two decades, the UAE has introduced 330 government policies and initiatives to develop the economic environment and signed some 600 international agreements. Foreign trade jumped from AED415 billion to AED2.2 trillion; GDP doubled to AED1.86 trillion over the same period. The UAE is also the first country in the region to attract investments worth AED734 billion.

The UAE’s non-oil foreign trade continues to set unprecedented records, surpassing the AED2 trillion mark for the first time in history and totaling AED2.233 trillion in 2022, a 17% increase from 2021.

The UAE also has a clear circular economy policy, Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) strategy; and a National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

Sheikh Mohammed noted that the UAE ranks first in more than 186 global indices and more than 430 regional indices, in addition to having the highest sovereign rating in the region and leading the region in terms of ease of doing business and attracting investment status.

“The UAE is currently the most fiscally efficient government and the one best equipped to keep up with the pace of global change,” Sheikh Mohammed emphasized.

“Over the past 17 years, we have had multiple ministerial reshuffles involving more than 66 ministers and have pushed for youth engagement and accountability,” he added.

Sheikh Mohammed also spoke about the outstanding performance of the UAE’s space sector, including the establishment of an integrated space sector with a total investment of AED36 billion for space missions to Mars, the Moon and other interstellar missions, in addition to a national space agency and Ten years of satellite manufacturing.

Today, the UAE is home to 19 orbiting satellites, 10 new spacecraft in development, more than 50 international and emerging space companies, institutions and facilities, in addition to five space science research centres.

In February 2021, the UAE became the first Arab country in history to reach Mars, and the fifth country in the world to achieve the feat. In October of the same year, the UAE Space Agency announced the start of a new UAE interplanetary mission, which would include exploring the orbit of Venus and then exploring the asteroid belt beyond Mars. The mission is scheduled to launch in 2028.

Over AED150 billion has been allocated for social development and housing programs to ensure a decent living for UAE citizens.

The education sector accounted for the largest share of government spending in the last period, totaling close to AED160 billion, benefiting over 1.3 million students in over 1,500 schools and educational institutions under the supervision of over 150,000 teachers.

More than AED 60 billion was allocated to the health and community protection sectors. The number of health facilities has reached more than 5,000, and the number of doctors and nurses has exceeded 92,000.

The UAE has released 90 policies and projects to strengthen the preparedness of the government sector. There are also 50 programs to improve energy efficiency and food security, and 50 labor market and human resource initiatives.

The UAE government currently provides more than 1,500 services through more than 180 smart platforms.

2014 – The Mohammed bin Rashid Government Innovation Center was launched to provide a world-class multi-purpose space to test, create and stimulate innovation locally, regionally and internationally.

2015 – Sheikh Mohammed launches the Arabic Reading Challenge to increase literacy and reading rates in the Arab world

2016 – The UAE Cabinet launches a government accelerator to advance the national agenda to achieve Vision 2021. That same year, the UAE launched the UAE Youth Council; the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution; and the Dubai Future Council.

2017 – The UAE Government Annual Conference is launched to unify all government entities at the federal and local levels to achieve the Centennial Plan 2071. In the same year, UAE Centennial 2071 was launched as a clear roadmap to enhance the UAE’s reputation and strengthen its leadership.

2018 – The Government Modernization Strategic Partnership and Government Experience Exchange Program was launched during the World Government Summit.

2019 – The Regulatory Lab is launched to develop and test robust regulations for emerging technologies. The Arab Government Excellence Award was also launched to recognize outstanding Arab government employees.

2020 – UAE declares 2020 as year of preparation for the next 50 years with the theme ‘2020: Towards the next 50 years’

2021 – The UAE hosts Expo 2020 Dubai, welcoming millions of visitors to the biggest global event in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

2022 – The UAE launches the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global trade and logistics hub. The UAE has also launched “We the UAE 2031” as a development path for the next 10 years, focusing on social, economic, investment and development aspects.
