Remember how part of the International Space Station (ISS) was recently turned into a barbershop Did UAE astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi get a haircut? Well, we hadn’t seen his new creation yet — until a senior official at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center shared this photo today.
Salem Al Marri, director general of MBRSC, tweeted a photo in the early hours of Thursday morning with the caption: “A new look for Sudan”
The tweet came shortly after Dubai’s Museum of the Future hosted a media edition of “Space Talk” with AlNeyadi on Wednesday night. This is part of Phase 2 of MBRSC’s national outreach programme.
“Time passes very quickly in space. We are so busy that we don’t feel the passage of time. We see 16 sunrises and sunsets a day. But we have adapted to this biological clock. Sleeping in sleeping bags was difficult at first , but it was enjoyable afterwards. The weightlessness was a thrill that I can’t describe,” he said.
The six-and-a-half-hour extravehicular activity (EVA) will make the UAE the 10th country to have a spacewalking citizen.
Al Marri has said: “We are on another historic mission which is part of Zayed Ambition 2. Sultan (Al Neyadi) will now be doing a spacewalk. He has a lot of training. He has actually gone through 10 training sessions , each lasting six to eight hours. We wish him every success in his mission.”
