The ruler of Sharjah announced this increase on the Sharjah TV, a local radio station in the emirate.

In an interview with Khaleej Times, Major General Saif Al Zeri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the rulers of Sharjah.
“His Royal Highness keeps in touch with us every day: He asks for details and data about five or six times a day,” the major general said.
“This decision warms our hearts and will directly reflect the lives of retirees, especially the families of deceased retirees who dedicated their lives to police work.”
He said that the ruler has instructed the relevant authorities to study the salaries of local and federal retirees of the Sharjah police. He ordered an increase in the wages of local employees last year.
The ruler’s instructions followed a study that assessed the salaries and living standards of retired Sharjah military officers employed by the federal sector.
After studying their situation, it was found that the amount they received was not enough.
The salary increase will take effect from January 2018 and will bring the salary of 453 retirees to AED 17,500 at an annual cost of AED 40 million.
