Cricket: UAE IPL 2021 allows fans to return to stadiums | Coronavirus pandemic news

[ad_1]

The five-time champion Mumbai Indians will clashed with Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in Dubai on Sunday.

Organizers stated that the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) season will allow spectators to return to the stadium when it resumes in the United Arab Emirates later this week.

After the devastating second wave of the epidemic in India, several players and behind-the-scenes staff tested positive for COVID-19, and the IPL was suspended in May, leaving 31 games left.

“The games will be held in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Taking into account the COVID agreement and UAE government regulations, seats are limited,” the organizers said in a statement on Wednesday.

However, the league did not specify the number of fans allowed or whether a vaccine certificate must be obtained to enter the stadium.

On Sunday, four months after the world’s richest T20 league was suspended due to the pandemic in India, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings will compete with five-time champions at the Dubai International Cricket Ground The Mumbai Indians game restarted.

The IPL statement said: “This game will be an important moment because IPL will welcome fans back to the stadium after a brief interruption due to the COVID-19 situation.”

Tickets for the remaining games will end in the final on October 15th and will go on sale on Thursday.

IPL moved to the UAE last year, where it was held behind closed doors, and fans stayed away in the first leg of this edition in India.

When games were played in empty stadiums in the UAE and India, broadcasters used virtual background noise from fans cheering and stadium roar to serve TV audiences.

The remaining matches of the 14th edition will be held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Players from all eight teams will compete in a strict biosphere.
