New Delhi [India]April 14 (ANI): India and Congo held the second round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) on Thursday and agreed to enhance cooperation in multilateral forums.
“The second round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and the Republic of Congo (ROC) was held in New Delhi on April 13, 2023. The meeting was co-chaired by Ambassador Sevala Naik Mude of JS (C&WA) and Ambassador Gisele Bouanga-Kalou, Cabinet Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Republic of China,” read a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations, including politics, trade and commerce, investment, defense and security, developing partnerships, capacity building, and cultural and people-to-people ties.
They also discussed ways to further strengthen India’s relationship with the ROC. The two sides exchanged views on regional and global issues of common concern and agreed to strengthen cooperation on multilateral occasions.

The two sides agreed to hold the next round of consultations in Brazzaville at a mutually convenient date
The friendly relationship between India and the Republic of China can be traced back to the pre-independence era of the Republic of China.
Our bilateral relationship has been further strengthened with the opening of our Permanent Mission in Brazzaville in 2019. Bilateral trade has been growing steadily, from $527 million in 2018-19 to $1.47 billion in 2021-22, read the press release.
India provided three Lines of Credit (LoCs) worth $214.9 million to the Republic of China for rural electrification, transport system development and cement plant construction.
