Tadweer said in a statement that by the end of Ramadan, food waste had increased by as much as 1,500 tonnes. As such, Tadweer’s optimized operations are in line with the company’s vision of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment in Abu Dhabi.
Tadweer is coordinating with various authorities across the UAE to organize awareness campaigns to encourage community members to adopt proper waste management practices, reduce food waste and separate waste at source. During Ramadan, Tadweer will provide efficient waste collection, transportation and sanitation services throughout the emirate.
“As part of our efforts to achieve sustainable growth in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Tadweer has developed a strategic plan to be implemented during Ramadan that focuses on optimizing our operations to manage the expected increase in waste volumes. By doing so , we are taking a step closer to realizing our vision of establishing sustainable waste management across the emirate by collecting, transporting, treating and disposing of waste in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Ali Al Dhaheri. , CEO of Tadweer.
In response to an increase in food waste, Tadweer has deployed additional workforces in hotspots to improve cleanliness in Abu Dhabi City after Iftar breaks and during morning shifts. It has also allocated additional containers near mosques and Ramadan tents, and updated container unloading dates and times to accommodate Ramadan requirements. In addition, Tadweer added 369 trucks and installed automated sweeping equipment, enhancing waste hauling and cleaning operations.
Authorities also provide municipal and solid waste collection and transport services throughout the emirate during Ramadan. Its operations include mosques, neighbourhoods, markets, Ramadan tents, parks, health and education facilities, slaughterhouses, farms and waste collection points.
