washington [US]April 15 (ANI): UK House of Lords MP Nicholas Stern hails Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership during World Bank event ‘Personalization: How behavior change can tackle climate change’, hailing his LiFE A global initiative to combat climate change.
“Prime Minister Modi has brought a whole new growth and development story. I listened carefully to his speech at COP 26 in Glasgow in November 2021, and what he proposed, including LiFE, is sustainable resilience and inclusiveness growth look,” he said.
The Lifestyles in the Environment (LiFE) initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to encourage sustainable lifestyles in India and internationally to address the challenges of environmental degradation and climate change.
PM Modi’s clear models give you cities that can move and breathe, give you a fruitful ecosystem and use energy resources more efficiently, says Stern.
“It gives you a city that moves and breathes. It gives you a strong and productive ecosystem. It uses energy and all other resources more efficiently. Efficiency is productivity, growth and development. Your moving city. Much more than output, of course. I mean, if you stop killing people from air pollution, that’s very good for output. But actually, it’s pretty important to stop killing people from air pollution in a very direct way …that’s all part of development. So having a new way to move away from the dirty, destructive patterns of the past and build something more engaging, I think is absolutely critical for everyone to work together ,” the British lawmaker said.
The LiFE initiative plans to harness the power of social networks to influence social norms around climate. It plans to create and nurture a global network of individuals, “Pro-Planters” (P3), who will work together to adopt and promote an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
Stern further said that the new model suggested by Prime Minister Modi means a very different way of doing things and a better way of growth and development.
“It’s a story of doing things very differently and building a better growth and development story. I think India is leading the way. Prime Minister Modi’s clarity and commitment is crucial. This is definitely reflected in the G20 leadership, Because well. That’s the growth and development story of the century,” he said.
However, MPs in the House of Lords say change will require investment, innovation and behavioral change.
“It’s about change, it’s about investment, it’s about innovation, it’s about, in fact, behavioral change. But if you have a very clear understanding of where you’re going and why, all of that can happen. And a clear understanding that there’s actually There’s a pretty attractive path to follow, much better than the dirty, destructive models of the past,” he added. (Arnie)
