Emirates News Agency – Baniyas, Al Ain clubs win big in Jiu-Jitsu Presidents Cup U-16 and U-18 finals

ABU DHABI, 15th April, 2023 (WAM) — The Ju-Jitsu President’s Cup Finals for the Under-16 and Under-18 categories took place in an exciting showdown of top talents at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City The curtain fell.

In the fierce competition for the under-16 boys’ category, the Al Ain Club came out victorious over Al Wahda, who came in second, and Al Jazira, who came in third. The game was intense, but Al Ain remained focused and composed, securing their well-deserved victory in the end.

In the girls’ under-16 category, Baniyas Club beat Al Jazira, who finished second, and Al Ain, who came third. The women’s competition was also exciting, and the Banias Club fought hard to catch up and won the championship title.

Meanwhile, in the under-18 category, Baniyas swept the boys and girls, with Al Ain finishing runners-up in both categories. Al Wahda finished third, but the Baniyas were undoubtedly the stars of the show, showing their dominance on the mat and claiming multiple titles.

Following the competition, an award ceremony for the champion and the top three in each category was held in the presence of dignitaries, including: Abdul Monem Al Hashemi, President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) (Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi) Senior Vice President of Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation and International Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Brigadier Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Member of the Board of Directors of UAEJJF; Brigadier Nasser Khadem Al Kaabi, Vice-Chairman of Management Committee of Baniyas Sports and Culture Club; Khuwaiter Saeed Al Dhaheri, Board Member and Head of Individual Events, Al Ain Sports Games Club; Asma Khadil, Board Member, Al Ain Sports Games Club.

Brigadier General Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri congratulated the winners and highlighted the high level of competition and the outstanding performance of the players.

He said: “The performance of the athletes today reflects the status and value of the Jiu-Jitsu President Cup and demonstrates the great development of Jiu-Jitsu in the UAE. A solid foundation of qualified personnel has been laid.”

According to Al Dhaheri, the players owe their success to a balanced training program, commitment and participation in tournaments with elite players. He also highlighted the federation’s efforts to develop tournaments for different age groups, in line with their strategic vision to empower young players who can represent the national team.
