Segula Technologies chooses Abu Dhabi as UAE launch pad

The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the arrival of a global engineering and technology consultancy group, with French-born Segula Technologies choosing Abu Dhabi as the launch pad for its growth aspirations in the region.

With more than 12,000 employees in approximately 140 offices in more than 30 countries, Segula Technologies is one of the world’s largest engineering and technical consulting firms.

Despite a global presence on all seven continents, the Middle East remains an untapped market for Segula Technologies. That will now change with the opening of its first office in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, and ambitious plans to grow its Middle East team to 200 by the end of 2025.

In keeping with its ambitions, the launch of the Abu Dhabi office coincides with the launch of a new hub in Cairo, Egypt. The two offices will work closely together to serve the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

“The Middle East is a strategic market for Segula Technologies,” said CEO Franck Ghrenassia, who has been with the company for 22 years. “The market is growing and presents us with excellent opportunities to apply our knowledge and expertise as the region explores new horizons in hydrogen, car manufacturing, Industry 4.0. Software solutions, high-speed rail networks and nuclear energy.”

According to Omar Khattab, managing director of the Middle East division, the company is already up and running. “We are already working with major international and local industrial players,” he said. To support the delivery of its services to its clients, the Paris-based group has started hiring engineers, technical consultants, energy specialists and software developers, among other positions.

One of the customers that Segula Technologies is working with is the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi.this consulting firm The plant, the first-ever nuclear power plant in the Arab world, is being supported to optimize its operation and maintenance processes.

“Our aim is to be the partner of choice and to be a major contributor to industrialization, energy transition and digital transformation in the Middle East by working with our clients.”
