The Abu Dhabi Court of Family, Civil and Administrative Cases ordered the employer to pay Dh100,000 to the employee for the loss and safety suffered by the employee for losing 90% of his eyesight while at work due to the employer’s failure to provide means of safety.
The complainant filed a lawsuit demanding that the employer pay him 200,000 dirhams for the material and moral damages he suffered as a result of his injuries, as well as 12% of his legal rights from the date of filing the complaint. Litigation up to payment in full, plus litigation costs and attorneys fees.
The complainant explained that during the work, due to the lack of safety measures, his eyes were injured, he filed a lawsuit and the employer was fined Dhs10,000 in absentia and compensated Dhs90,000 for his permanent disability according to the forensic report.
The court stated that the criminal sentence was final and that the complainant had lost 90% of his eyesight in addition to his mental and psychological pain, which was a permanent disability, and ruled that the employer was obliged to pay the complainant compensation in addition to fees and expenses. All losses of Dhs100,000, while legal rights claims are rejected.
