Texas [US]April 20 (ANI): Two cheerleaders in Texas were shot dead after mistaking a suspect’s vehicle for their own in a supermarket parking lot, ABC News reported.

One of the victims was treated at the scene and released Tuesday morning, while the other was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, Elgin police said, according to ABC News.
Pedro Tello Rodriguez Jr., 25, was charged with a fatal act, a third-degree felony, police said. Rodriguez allegedly fled the scene after the shooting and was arrested at his home, according to court documents.

Woodlands Elite Cheer Co. cheerleader Heather Roth said on Instagram Live that she and three other cheerleaders had finished practice when they went to the carpool parking lot after midnight Tuesday.
Rose said she got out of her friend’s car and opened the door of what she thought was hers, but a man was in the passenger seat. She said she got out of the car and went back to her friend’s car.
When the man approached their car, Ross said she rolled down the window to apologize, and the man started shooting.
Elgin is about 25 miles east of Austin.
One of the injured cheerleaders, Peyton Washington, has been accepted to Baylor University and its acrobatic ad tumbling team, ABC News reported.
Fee Mulkey, Baylor’s acrobatics and tumbling coach, said in a statement released by the university: “Payton is a strong young lady; if you know her, you know her. I have no doubt she will pull through. She was an amazing athlete but an even better person and that’s why she is part of our Baylor family.
