Haitian Prime Minister Henry succeeds attorney general after firing the prosecutor

Henry was appointed as the next prime minister by Moise two days before his assassination. He continued to maintain the support of the international community even if he faced a breakdown in support at home.

On Wednesday night, a group of important international diplomats issued a statement saying that it encouraged Henry and other political leaders to work hard to reach an agreement and form an inclusive government, “to maintain national cohesion and restore the country’s journey towards political stability”.

A core group composed of ambassadors from Germany, Brazil, Canada, Spain, the United States, France, and the European Union, as well as representatives of the United Nations and the Organization of American States, also called for “full exposure of the assassination” of Moise.

Two years ago, there were no legislative or municipal elections in the political deadlock, and there were only a few elected officials in Haiti.
