1. Corniche
The Corniche spans 8 kilometers of manicured waterfront with children’s play areas, cycle and walking paths, cafes and restaurants. One of the best places to soak up the Abu Dhabi sun, the immaculate 2km Corniche Beach offers turquoise waters, soft white sand and a beautiful boardwalk overlooking the picturesque Arabian Gulf.
A short drive away is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, which has an open door policy and welcomes visitors from all over the world. The imposing structure has 82 domes carved from shiny white marble.
Take time to visit the cultural landmark of Qasr Al Watan, a working presidential palace that showcases the knowledge and traditions that shaped the UAE. Don’t miss the popular, family-friendly Palace In Motion event. This 30-minute light and sound show starts nightly at 8pm.
2. Yas Island
Action-packed Yas Island is 30 minutes from the city and offers entertainment of all kinds. The Yas Marina Circuit hosts the annual Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and visitors can choose from a range of supercar driving experiences, or walk, run and cycle the track.
There are also world-renowned theme parks, including the world’s largest indoor theme park, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. And Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is home to the world’s fastest roller coaster and tallest roller coaster loop, under the striking Ferrari red roof. Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi has over 40 popular rides and slides to choose from for all ages.
Visitors can also enjoy Yas Island’s golf courses, beautiful beaches, charming hotels and impressive shopping malls.
3. Saadiyat Island
The tranquil haven of Saadiyat Island offers a range of cultural activities, from the iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi to Manarat Al Saadiyat, a hub of arts, cultural events and community events. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum will soon join them.
Sadiyaat Island, whose white-sand beaches are dotted with greenery, is home to the critically endangered hawksbill turtle. Visitors can also play a round of golf at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club or browse the many shops.
4. Desert Expedition
Known as the Empty Desert, the desert covers 70% of Abu Dhabi’s land, making it the largest uninterrupted stretch of sand in the world. Head west to explore the Al Dhafra region, the gateway to the Empty Zone, with its spectacular sand dunes.
Visitors can choose from a variety of desert experiences, including jeep tours, dune surfing, quad biking, fat biking, and sand boarding. Go on a desert safari and discover the Bedouin way of life. Look forward to delicious Arabic cuisine, traditional entertainment and camel rides.
5. Lush Retreat
It’s easy to forget you’re in the desert when visiting the lush garden city of Al Ain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site irrigated by ancient irrigation systems. Admire the date palms and fruit trees of the Al Ain Oasis, while Al Ain Zoo is home to more than 4,000 animals, including Arabian oryx, giraffes, rhinos, hippos, tigers and lions.
Family-friendly Al Ain Adventure Park offers an incredible range of activities, from rafting and kayaking to surfing and wakeboarding. In addition, there is a two-level sky park with 18 obstacles, a 1,200-meter zipline and a 14-meter-high giant swing.
