Taylorsville — The Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center has announced details for the 2023 Multicultural Festival.
This year, the Hiddenite Center has partnered with the Taylorsville Apple Blossom Festival to offer multicultural performances on May 6th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a revolving performance stage in downtown Taylorsville (101 W Main Ave.)
“We look forward to delivering multicultural performances for the Apple Blossom Festival and invite all to come and celebrate our heritage, apple blossom, diversity, art and community,” said Executive Director Donna Latham.
A variety of performers will entertain throughout the festival, including:
● La Puerta Spanish Praise Team, 10-11 am
● Empress & Pixie Dust Hmong Dance Troupe, 11-11:30 am
● Raza Contemporary Latin Dancer, 11:30 am to noon
● April Turner African Drumming and Dance, 2-2:45 pm
● Men of GR’ace African-American gospel band, 3-3:45 p.m.
The master of ceremonies for the Rotary Performance Stage is Macy Jones.Notable multicultural performance supported by NC Arts Council under Department of Natural and Cultural Resources www.NCArts.org, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. Other performances on the main stage include:
● Nun Ya Buzness, 8:30-9:30 am
● East Alexander Middle School Choir, 9:30-10 am
● Local school band, noon to 1pm
● Fox & Company, 1-2pm
● Quinn Crowe, 4-5 pm
The Hiddenite Center will offer free art activities for children on the lawn on the revolving stage. Cherokee host Lisa Ray will give the kids hands-on Cherokee weaving techniques.
